Post Games Workshop Finecast Reply with quote
Games Workshop has produced metal and plastic figures for decades. Recently they switched some models to resin. They promised higher quality and better detail.

I hesitated to buy any because I've actually cast things in resin before and I know it has bubbles in it. Plus the Finecast models are more expensive than GW's metal and plastic models.

But I needed a Dwarf Grudge Thrower for my new dwarf army and there was no other choice, so I bought one. Here's a reminder of what the box shows:

The pieces I got out of the box were the worst castings I've ever purchased, from any model company. I called GW customer support. The representative hand picked the pieces and sent it to me for free. It's just as bad.

Take a look at the pictures below. For the record, the one on the left is the one out of the box; the one on the right was selected by the representative. Please look at the celtic knots. They're muddy, smeared, smushed, and generally ill-defined. This isn't higher quality and better detail, it's lower quality and worse detail than what I'm used to buying.

Notice how the left one doesn't sit flat:

There's a bit of pink material stuck in the front of the one on the left:

The corners are a mess:

And other parts are just as poor quality:

I purchased my first Games Workshop models over 20 years ago. I own thousands of them. I won't buy any more Finecast models.

If you purchase a Finecast model in a store, open it in the store and review it before leaving. If it's miscast, ask for a new one or a refund. If the store doesn't help you, call GW and explain to them.
