Hi hobbyists, welcome to Terrainosaur.

When I set up Terrainosaur in 1999, it was rudimentary HTML. Around 2007 I switched it to a PHPBB with myself as the only user. That was easy for me to post in, easy to organize, and easy to browse, but it had no thumbnails. In 2020 I updated it to a WordPress blog.

I didn’t port all the text over. It was 121k words – longer than many books. The old gallery still exists, if you want to see that. New posts here will have text.

Also, I’m only presenting projects I built and painted. The pics of my friends’ projects were removed.

You don’t have to view the posts a few at a time. There are over 400 posts and 2,000 images. Try the menu above to navigate.
  • Thumbnails: Small images of entries by category.
  • Lists: Titles of entries by category.
  • Categories: All posts within a category, five at a time.

Blast Bases (Scorch or Explosion Marks)

I was practicing painting black marks on my Necromunda factory floor.
Then I glanced over and saw ths crackle paint and I thought ‘Wow that looks like the center of a blast.
So I made these, using crackle paint in the center, in different ways.

Playing with Crackle Paints

I was playing with various crackle paints to see how they compared and what you could do with them. The bottom two (brown and green) are Citadel Agrellan Earth. The upper left and right (purple and blue) are Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint Clear Rock Candy. The top one (brown) is probably Pebeo Studio Modelling Paste Crackling Effect.

Collage for YouTube Header

Crafting and painting YouTube channels have these headers with collages of their work. You can only see the middle third on a PC and less on a phone, but you have to put up a huge image in case someone views it on a TV. I do not know squat about what makes a good collage so I threw stuff on there.

Baleful Realmgates

Apparently I made this in 2019. I remember doing it, the gates are in a box somewhere, but I thought it was years ago. Anyway these are just two Games Workshop terrain models with iPhones behind them playing the same GIF. Of course I have a third iPhone to take the picture itself . . .

Attempt at green marble

This 4″ by 4″ wood tile was practice painting a green marble effect. I did it ages ago – at least 2014 or before then. Anyway I would need to practice more before it looked accurate.
